My engine builder tells me that the coil won't mount, where it normally does on the inlet manifold, because it bumps into the carb and inlet lines.
Under these conditions, where and how do you mount the coil??
440 engine block, Holley Street Dominator inlet, 1/2 phenolic spacer, Proform 950 carb, drop base air cleaner.

myk

Wherever you want to in the engine bay, preferably in a spot where it won't get bombarded by extreme temperatures or other hostile conditions.  The only drawback is that you need a coil wire long enough to meet your needs...

Mounted mine on the inner fender by the washer tank.

I am back

A383Wing

mine would not mount in stock location either with dual quads, so I got a universal coil bracket that had only one mounting tab and used the right front carb mounting nut to attach it there

just recently ( last year ) moved mine off the motor !!  to inner fender  & the wiring too that runs along the right side valve cover , was trying to resist doing it ,  but  makes sense keeping that stuff off the hot motor ,  started to over think stuff  , & one thing lead to another  :rotz: :P  , besides  my engine bay is not really stock any more with  the charging set up & metered fuel return from the carb :P

Thank you for the suggestions.
I thought of the inner fender but wondered how it interfaces with the washer tank and possibly the MSD 6AL box.

It appears that A383Wing and Nickrc3(good pictures) are using a different bracket.  Would you both let me know where you got your brackets and their designation?
John

A383Wing

here is best pic I got...it's just a universal coil bracket that I picked up at auto part store long ago. Then I just folded one of the mounting tabs around the coil and used the carb mount to slide both tabs onto it and use nut to hold it on

I went this route...  I don't have a personal picture of it on hand, but the link shows exactly how I have mine mounted as well.

Good Options.
My engine is waiting it's turn for the dyno.  When I get it back, I will have to choose an option.
Thanks again.
