need help! car will not turn over

hey guys, sometimes my 69 charger wont turn over. the lights and radio work but sometimes I have to wiggle some of the wires on the firewall and then it starts fine. could someone narrow it down to 1 or 2 wires I should check? thanks

   yellow wire from ignition switch to starter relay

starter will not opperate ?   have you tried  jumping the starter relay with a screwdriver   when this happens ?   ,   i'm assuming that's the only problem , like you have a spark at the plug , good grounds tight battery terminals etc

  there is no white wire there that I can  can recall , at least  on a 69 , only a gray one that goes to the oil pressure switch/sender ,  has your car got the original OEM harnesses ,
should of asked is your car a auto or manual !! could also be the neutral/ park only  start safety switch wiring , can you take a picture of your fire wall block connector ?

sounds like yer bulkhead connections are in question here....fix it right the first time, or you might have bigger issues in the future

The white-ish wire is indeed the gray one going to the oil sender.  It's probably a bit bleached with age.  The other wire to look at is the black one on the same connector, it runs to the alternator lug.  Be aware that this is a fire waiting to happen.  These wires need to be tight. In its best shape, it is not the safest system out there.  Do not drive it and do not even have the battery connected until ALL wiring is up to par.  Too many have lost their car over this.

im going to check all of that tomorrow but one other thing, my ignition is in bad shape. it looks fine but I have to wiggle the key to crank the car and the key can come out while it's running. could it be that causing the problem and the shaking the wires is just a coincidence that it starts?

It may be coincidence or it may be related.  Once the switch has play you'll have to replace it.

one more question, there is a wire that has a rubber boot on one end and I think the other is going to the bottom section of the bulk head connector that is not plugged into anything. I don't know the color because it got painted but it looks black. what does it plug into?

A black wire runs from the bottom left slot of the bottom bulkhead connector to the brake warning lamp switch.  Find your brake distribution block on the ds frame rail, the rubber boot connects to the side facing the front of the car.
