500' of snow eh!

You should buy a set of skis.  The hills in SF would be awesome for skiing.  You can use the cable cars as gondolas.

I wish I were there as I'd love to see the cars sliding down the hills all day long.

As far as the band, never heard of them!

I'd bet that some of the snowboarders would be into using cars as obstacles as they decended down the street. Staying home is a good idea.

I've heard of King's X, but I don't recall hearing their music. Someday maybe.

Dharma:

Fortunately, most of the freeways are in the flats rather than the hills so I suspect the outcome won't be dire.

Were you around for the last snow down in the flatlands?  In Feb 1976, it snowed it Oakland and San Leandro where I grew up.  My Dad told me it happened once before when he was a little kid.  Sounds like about every 40 years or so, the white stuff come down at the lower elevations.

Kind of. I'd say there's about a 70%-30% rain to snow ratio outside right now in Portland. The poorly-trained chimpanzee in charge of weather alerts at our three bus transit maintenance facilities flipped his two-headed coin and told us to chain the entire fleet of buses last night at about 10:30 pm. Heads we chain the fleet, tails we don't. That took until roughly 2:30 am to accomplish. Then, at about 3:00 am the chimp flipped his two-headed coin again. Heads we drop the chains, tails we don't. So he calls us back up and tells us to remove all the chains we just put on and day shift was still doing that when we left. The worst possible scenario was a forecast of 2" of snow on the valley floor. Yea, you read that right. If you can't drive in 2" of snow without chains you've got some serious issues. I keep telling them that traction devices is a poor substitute for inept driving habits but no one listens. :icon_smile_cool:

I think they recently decided that the chimp with the two-headed coin is not a reliable way to make such important decisions that effect so many lives and wastes tax payer dollars -- so I think they are going to switch to the Magic 8 Ball.

King's X? Yup, they're pretty good. I saw them in concert about 12 years ago with Billy Squire.

:haha:

Tell that chimp to send his resume' up here to Seattle. We need a better weather forecasting system.

It's looks like SF follow the same steps as Seattle drivers when in gets snowy or icy:

1. Watch the local news and get driven into an absolute PANIC !
2. Go out and drive as fast as usual. Faster if you have 4WD
3. Follow up the innevitable crash with a puzzled course of "Gosh, it sure is slippery"
4. Repeat next year

Be sure to charge up your cell phone and get an elgrande-soy-mochachinofrapparino before you hit the road.

Now we've got a report here of "Softball Sized Hail" in Kansas... I hear the freeway overpasses get kinda crowded...  :o

Old Moparz

No hail in Atlantic City this weekend for the NIN show. :D  My daughter loved it & it was nice to walk the boardwalk in warmer weather.

Got some pics I have to download later too.

wow you guys should see what its like here in Saskatchewan canada where i live.  this year had the most snowfall in decades i think... it snowed like 6 inches the other day, and its windy and icy. over 2 1/2 feet total at least right now.   i drove my moms buick, regular tires. no problem once most of the snow is cleared.  the highways get really bad too, icy, bad visability etc.  theres hardly any crashes ever, i guess everyone is soo used to it by now up here lol
