Is it me or does that sound (where shifting) like the mustang in Bullit?

Don't recall the Bullitt soundtrack well enough to tell, but I always get a kick out of tires squealing on dirt, they are just as bad about it in movies/ shows today

Honestly none at all, obviously showing my ignorance here Im guessing   but have done plenty of cuttin up and drifting around corners on farm/ county roads and haven't noticed that effect. I'm guessing the track is hard packed?

Yes...Run the track in enough, that dirt will get rock hard and those

Right on, I learned something new and that does indeed make sense. The sound that comes to mind for me then is more of a loose dirt/ gravel noise from roads less traveled

 that bullet sound track of the mustang is was used in the original vanishing point too , when Kawasaki is out in the desert & lost & crosses his own tracks , he gets out to look , then drives off    also in a dukes of hazard episode , think even stasky & hutch had that sound track in it I forget 

also if you listen to the new gone in 60 seconds  mustang , they have used the  hemi charger engine sound , that wassupposed to be the challenger in the  new  vanishing point film  well no new the 1995 or 6 film
