Do you believe engine casting date of 1/18/69 is too early for a superbird build date 11/30/69 vin 177569? Existing engine is a 68 but I want to build a stock one that is time period correct. I have found this hp block for $450 standard bore and pistons.

I think 10 months is a bit of a stretch....personally, if I wanted to make a non- matching engine look more "correct" I would be more concerned with the stampings on the ID pad, such as F 440 HP...not many people will crawl under the car to check a casting date, but the ID pad is easily visible...

I have seen longer than 10 months on original engines before....but I do agree about the top pad stuff being more important on a "date correct" replacement block.
