It was an extremely primitive setup, look at what we do with the turbine in the m1 abrams... the physical engine is tiny, nearly the size of a big block, yet puts out 1500hp and moves 70 tons at a GOVERNED 45 mph. They are fast and agile and will outaccelerate most cars.... chrysler was just experimenting. Had they continued the lrogram and used a variable vane turbine and changed their direct drive setup, it would have been much better

Chrysler did continue the program. It ran all of the way up into the 80's.

Yes, it did.  I saw them in HPE, forget the building number, but there were two of them.
One had the sloped headlight doors.  I believe a silver color.

No, I was NOT a mailman...    :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

One should read the book Chrysler's Turbine Car by Steve Lehto. it is the definitive word on the turbine project from it's inception to it's end. fascinating read.

When I was 13 years old, my pals and I were playing baseball out on the street in our neighborhood. We heard this strange whining noise coming round the corner, looked out for it and saw this bronze colored futuristic "car" coming towards us. I was struck by how cool and different this was from anything on the road, sleek, clean and space age. It was beautiful in  my eyes. That bronze beauty planted a seed in my mind. Always having an affinity towards automobiles, I decided right then and there that I wanted to be a part of the process to imagine and build  cars such as that. After nearly 40 years in the auto business, 35 working in the Styling studios of various car and transportation companies, (over 30 at Ma Mopar alone), I could say I realized my dream.
