I have a 383 with a slight rod rattle.  I took valve cover off to check.  Second rod from the front on the drivers side was loose.  I put a new cam in about3 years ago.  The  :cam that was replaced had the same lobe worn.  What can be causing this wear on the same cam lobe position?  I know it could be a weak spring.  Spring does not look collapsed but I know that proves nothing.  I'm just looking for a direction to go to look for what is causing this reoccurring problem.  Any suggestions are certainly appreciated.  :shruggy:

Have you pulled the lifter and inspected it to verify a wiped cam? There is a good chance you might only have a collapsed lifter. If it is a wiped cam then make sure the lifter isnt seizing in the bore.

Guess you meant Push Rod? :scratchchin:

As Joe stated I would pull the lifter and inspect. If cam and lifter seem good, look at the push rod and rocker arm.

Are you running ZDDP in the oil?
