RF blinker 68 Charger

I am getting blinker to the bulkhead at the firewall for the RF, the parking light works but no blinker.  The RF parking light is bridged from the LF (according to the diagram), but the blinker has its own dedicated black/tan wire.  Can the socket go bad and still have the parking light work?  Or am I most likely dealing with a break in the wire for the blinker?

Thanks.

double check to make sure you have a good ground from the housing to the light frame....       check to see if you have a signal on the black/tan wire - and if you do trace it all the way to the light and see where it drops off - that should narrow down your search if you have a break in the wire itself.

I'm bringing a thread back from the dead..  I'm having this same issue with my 68.

How can the parking lights be working, but the turn signals don't.  Both rear signals work fine.  The dash indicator works for R, but not L.  I've seen it flash once in the last year.  But, that's another story.

I looked at the wiring, there is continuity through.  What do I need to check?

If the light works at all, then the wiring is good.  There is only a single "hot" wire to each of the lights.  The other wire is a shared ground between them.

If the light works but doesn't flash, my guess would be the flasher.  It's about a $5 part.  It's a small metal can with 2 contacts that should be under the dash to the right of the steering column. Swapping this ultimately solved all my turn signal issues.

I was wondering as much, about the wiring. Would the flasher be bad as the rear lights flash fine?  I'll check the connections on the flasher. Maybe something is loose.

no...it will not be a flasher...you have already proved that part works because the rears flash

possible problems could be bad contact in front bulb socket, bad bulb, (blinker filament broken), bad connection somewhere, or bad turn signal switch

you say one in dash does not blink? That would lead me to think bad connector under column or bad turn signal switch

I was thinking light bulb itself also. Can't remember if it has a dual filament like the 1157 taillight bulb. The original light duty flasher will do weird things as I recall when a bulb has failed, like blink slow or not at all. That might explain the bulb not working in the dash.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

front bulbs have dual filaments.....one for park light, one for turn signal.

he says the left dash indicator does not work, which is the same wire coming out of turn switch as front bulb....like stated, possible bad connection at turn signal switch connector under dash or bad turn signal switch...it's a common problem

Wright, I was modifying my post and adding my experience with old flashers affecting the turn signal dash light's when there is a problem with the turn signals while you were probably typing.

I had a intermittent problem with the right side front turn signal , even putting it back after the resto !  with all new harnesses all grounds on fresh shiny metal , & even running extra ground wires to stuff , just to make sure  :P
would only flash with hazard light switch pressed ,  & then that side was very dull , was something happening inside the  hazard switch , dirt !  oxidised !  contaminated grease  :shruggy:  , took it apart cleaned it ,  used proper dielectric grease , put it back together !! perfect ever since ,
( warning if you dismantle switch , the metal tangs then bend to hold switch together , will only bendable a few times  before breaking )

Looks like I need a new switch.  The upper left contact appears to have gotten a little hot and melted some time ago.
