More classic car shows on TV

Killed some time at a hotel in Boston over the weekend watching the tube (airline issues!). Don't have cable at home (won't pay for that crap!) but I tend catch up on idiot-box culture when nothing else is available. Was fairly impressed with Fast & Loud which is about the exploits of a Texas Shop buying and fixing/flipping older cars. Instead of the usual reality-show fantasy, this seemed loosely-based on practical reality. How unusual! These sort of shows act to raise the consciousness of the public to the pleasures of muscle car culture, and will likely increase the interest in cars like ours.

There are a few decent car shows out there, that don't have the usual team of pros doing a complete resto in a week or less.  Chassing classic cars, Wheeler Dealers, Grave yard cars, Fast and loud and reality rides, to name a few.
1969 Dodge Charger 500 440/727
1970 Challenger convertible 340/727
1970 Plymouth Duster FM3
1974 Dodge Dart /6/904
1983 Plymouth Scamp GT 2.2 Auto
1950 Dodge Pilot house pick up

If there is more drama than car building I'm out.

Twodko: Don't blame you, most TV shows are geared for folks with the IQ of a grape. This one wasn't too bad.  Don't remember seeing many mopars, but what I saw mostly made sense.

I do enjoy watching Overhauling. The expertise and attention to detail are top shelf.
The premise of doing something extraordinary for someone who otherwise wouldn't be able
to do make the show a must watch for me. It tugs at the heart and the tool box.

My only gripe about the show is Foose feels that lowering a car must be part of its
restoration. I just don't care for the lowered look.

GYC's adherence to the minutiae of factory original MOPAR restoration is wonderful to watch.........
then there is the insufferable drama.  :shruggy:

I've never been a fan of  "drama", personal or otherwise. Probably why most reality TV shows drive me screaming from the room.

I catch all of those when I can - As for Overhaulin' - either Chip Foose is a great actor or he's just a really really good dude who enjoys doing extreme makeovers.  I find most of his paint jobs pretty gawdy, but every now and then he does one that's tasteful.  Great TV and the best part is always the person's face when they see their car.

As for the one with Barry White - I forget what it's called - if I see him take one more stock 6cylinder Mailbu and call it a Super Sport Chevelle because he put a crate motor in it, I think I'm gonna kill myself.  They build some great rides on that show, but there's no such thing as a 'Super Muscle Car'.  I'm not a goon or a stickler for numbers-matching - but it's only a '64 Thunderbolt if, in fact, it was a '64 Thunderbolt.  A clone is a clone and should be called something else and sold as such.

I love the British wackiness of Wheeler Dealers, and GYC is a love it or hate it proposition.   I personally love it - the only Mopar-specific show on TV and they redo some REALLY choice rides.  Makes me wonder where some of these cats made their money that they can buy a 100K ride then have it redone for probably several dozen more K's by Worman and his crew.

Hot Rod has a web series too - no cable needed - called 'RoadKill' where they buy some old heap out of a junk yard then either race it or wheel it or do something else cool with it on a cheap budget.     It's pretty funny to watch them buy a barracuda and assemble it right in the junkyard, then take it down the strip.   Good show.
