How to work out the month and day of build date for my 68 RT charger

I was wondering if anyone could help me with build date of my 68 rt charger 440 4speed. I need to order a few things that are date coded and im having trouble working out the month and day the car was built. The serial code at the end of the vin is 285970 which would make it the 185969th vehicle made but how do i get the month and day it was built from this number. Any help would be much appreciated.

You don't mention at what plant your car was built but by the VIN I'll guess it was built at the Hamtramck plant (B code in the VIN) If that is the case, that VIN range would be consistent with cars built about February 6th-8th. For date coded items, you'd want something in January or earlier depending on the part.

Yes on the bottom row of the fender tag towards the right there is a 3-digit code.  It's the only 3-digit code on that row - first digit is the month last 2-digits are the day.  If the first digit is an 8, 9, or letter it indicates a 1967 build date from August thru December.

Thanks for the help. The cars been in storage for 6 months while i've been away and only had the vin no. that i could remember and thought i might be able to work it out from that. I had my dad go and take a photo of the vin tag and send it to me. The 3 didgit code is 212 which makes the build date Feburary 12/1968. Thanks again for the help.
