Today driving I braked pretty hard and smoke came out the front passenger brake system and I assumed it was my brakes smoking and then it went away after I accelerated again since the light was so long.  Not bad smoking, but enough I saw and disappeared. Would slotted rotors cure or alleviated this hard braking smoke?

fyi, manual brakes.

Braking hard and smoking front brakes could be that the rear brakes self adjusters not working.. :Twocents:

A383Wing

he has 11" brakes...no self adjusters

anyway, how many miles are on the shoes and turned drums since you did the brakes? Some smoking is normal within 500 miles of driving...or it's possible you might have the fronts too tight.

could be just the "oil" in the shoes burning off....this happens all the time when I do disc brakes on cars

my bad, I did something stupid I left my parking barke on for 25 miles and yes so your right kinda I had my rears locked up and so my front were working really hard now that explains for those 25 miles why I didnt accelerate as hard I was expected.

383,
Its been roughly 5k miles since brake job, but Im thinking I want to take her down to repack the bearings.

shoulda done that when drums were off

do you not have an e-brake light telling you e-brake is on?

lights not hooked up, but yeah im a dummy.  I used to be one of those guys that will keep a car down for a long time since once you take one part down you start to want to fix another piece which leads to another and eventually years pass and you never get to drive the car so now im attitude is slightly different.  I take a piece down to fix or upgrade and if something needs upgrading later I will do it later unless its something easy to do.  The rear brake job alone was 2 weeks worth of down time and im the kinda of guy who drives the charger weekly 300 miles or so.  I will repack the front bearings and look at the rear early summer maybe after vegas.

fix the light or you will end up doing it again

yeah , I would  strip all brakes down & check ,  that goes with  checking all wheels bearings too & re packing with the correct grease
