Beautiful custom show car that's typical of the breed, looks good but lacks functionality.  Reports say the throttle stuck. I'm guessing it probably wasn't driven much beforehand.  :shruggy:

And a lot of those things with their overpowered engines, big and skinny tire combinations, manual Ididit steering with 3 or 4 u joints and being placed on a concrete polished floor typical of a convention center have HORRIBLY inadequate braking and steering ability.
My instruction to drivers was always to assume everything starts in gear, assume its in gear and assume it has no brakes.  Those things fell under a "red flag" policy and only specific drivers were allowed in them and if the owner insisted they were the only person in the solar system capable of driving it, then get everyone out of the way and more power to ya big guy.
Not the first time I've seen that kind of vehicle crunched up on that kind of floor surface.

Rant off- it is a great looking custom and it sucks bad, I feel for the guy.

That does suck, but I do bet that he made the magazine.

Why are they driving the car indoors anyway? :scratchchin:  It couldn't be that hard to push.  Even if the show has a drivable requirement, they could do that outside in the parking lot before the show began.

From a post on Moparts:
Finalists for the Americas Most Beautiful Roadster must DRIVE the car for the judges. They circle the panel so the judges can hear the engine to see if the exhaust note fits with the style of car and if the driver fits properly in the car.    If it sounds wrong or the driver sits too high, too low, or in an awkward position it will cost the car points as an improper build.

So he probably didn't score too well is my guess.

Hard luck award, perhaps?

This is an unintended consequence of the complaint that the cars have to be proven to actually function.

And pushing cars isn't nearly as much fun as you might think either.

Isn't it obvious he was not fond of the looks the judges were giving him so he was purely heading to the exit. Missed the double doors. Car just could not squeeze through the single door.

Thats not good.  Was he badly hurt?

The driver? the judge?   :scratchchin:

Well I meant the judge he ran over but question works for both really.

JB400

Article says the driver was alright, just bruised up a little.  I don't think it mentioned a judge :shruggy:
