There is no actual torque rating for the pinion nut, the 9 1/4" has a crush sleeve which requires the nut to be tightened until you reach a previously measured turning torque on the pinion with the axles removed. Since you probably didn't measure the turning torque there is no way to know if the nut is tightened properly.

In the future you'd be wise to mark the relationship of the nut to the pinion stem so you can return the nut to its original position.

sent ya a pm.my old 1976 copyright Motor  service trade edition  says 210 ft lbs pinion nut  minimum an 20 tp 35 bearing preload  but thats new bearings. rebuild with same bearings 10  inch  .lbs more than reading when disassembled
if you tested on tear down??  hope it goes well .dj,,oregon

Those preload numbers are for the pinion by itself, when turning the pinion with the ring gear installed the number will be different with each individual rear end...that's why it's essential to check the running torque before removing the nut.

The 210 ft. lbs. is a minimum to use before rechecking the preload. If it was never checked before removing the nut you can't recheck it. IOW, if torqueing the nut to 210 ft. lbs. results in too much preload the rear end must be disassembled and the crush sleeve replaced.
