727 Lower linkage and kick down installation

OK... weird question here... My 727 doesn't have the linkage connecting the console shifter to the transmission, so I've got to install a Bouchillon kick-down cable as well as the lower linkage. It is a 440 with TTI full length headers. It looks like I will need to drop the driver side header to work on the transmission connections, but wasn't sure if you guys recommended just dropping the tranny. Nothing is wrong with engine or trans. Trying to strategize best way to ensure the connections are correct. Obviously the tranny would have to be mounted to bell housing for final linkage and adjustments. Any advice or strategies are much appreciated.  :cheers:

PS - don't ask why it wasn't linked when installed, long frustrating story with rebuild.  :brickwall:
