Right on, Charger brother.

A couple days ago I was out stretching the car's 'legs'.  Winter's coming fast, so every opportunity needs to be taken.

Sitting at a traffic light, three lanes wide, I'm in the middle lane, lead car.....just kinda sittin' there, enjoying my time with the car.  So, the turning lane arrows come on, and a guy in a RAM pickup is coming out of the turning lane from the opposite direction and making a left in front of me.   He's driving really slow and waving at me.

I'm looking close at this guy and trying to figure out who he is.   Do I know him?  He doesn't look familiar.   What about his truck?  No help there....I don't know this guy....why does he keep waving, and driving so slow?

A glance at the previously unnoticed trailer behind his truck and it all makes sense.  He's got a faded black '68 in tow.  Looked like a decent project car....needed some work, but a nice starting point.  Had some white butt stripes, coulda been an R/t.

I gave the guy a wave back before he disappeared off to my right.  It would have been easy to follow him from the right lane, but I was pinned in the middle.

The car was probably getting positioned for some work this winter.  Nice to see....I've 'been there, done that' and could relate.  As I pulled away from the light I thought about how far I'd come with my car, and how much this guy's got on his plate.

A chance meeting....we didn't know each other from Adam, but a long wave conveys the sentiment....."Hey there, my Charger Brother."

cool story. one has finished the journey as one starts the journey. then the memories that go through your head of the hours spent achieving that goal. plus the appreciation of what they will be going through in the days/years to follow. i know myself that its nice to finally have my car at the place it is. :2thumbs:

I have a very similar story:

I bought my '70 back in the summer of 2010 from a guy that kinda deas classic Brand X's. He had this mopar he wanted to get rid of and I was happy to oblige.  I got my car, engine, hood, and misc parts all loaded up and had just started the trek home. We come to an intersection and right as we approach it I see a  '69 done up like a GL coming to a stop on the cross street. If we had been able to I would have turned us around to chat but we exchange "Hey Charger brother" waves and carry on.

Car guys/gals are some of the greatest people out there!

That was a pretty cool scene I bet. :2thumbs: The reactions I get are funny. Anything from just a slight rubber neck to an all-out yell or a guy who wants to talk your ear off about his '56 whatever in the garage.

Just yesterday I had a guy talking to me at the gas station about a project he and his dad are working on and he got so jacked up about my car and his story that he drove off with the fuel nozzle still in his car. I tried to alert him but there was no traffic coming when he pulled out so he performed what I call a "California Stop" at the street and drove off. At least the hose didn't pop off and go with him.
