This is a real New York City car.

Manhattan Mopar: This GTS Dart has been a New York Daily Driver for 40 Years

It's crumpled and faded. Lumpy fiberglass distorts the wheelwells and the quarter panels, and the chrome trim undulates above the grille like an ocean wave, yet the GTS emblems and bumblebee stripes are original, as is the 340 tucked between those battered fenders. This is the 4th St. Dart, a special landmark to a small group of New York tourists and locals who track its position as it moves around New York's East Village, always just ahead of street cleaning day.

I'm going to look for that car next time I'm in that neighborhood. Seriously, I get to that area every once in a while & need another relaxing NYC fix.

It's amazing that this Dart survived considering the life expectancy in Manhattan is probably measured in months, not years.    My Grandfather had a '73 Dart that I had found for $150. It was a 318 car that ran perfect, just a dented quarter panel. He had it for about 1 year & it had been hit hard several times before it was beyond repair. The driver's door got caved in but I found him another door in the junkyard in the same color. That door was hit 2 months later.  ::) The car had dents, scrapes & dings everywhere. When someone ran a red light one night they creamed it from behind while it was parked, shoved it into the next car which finished it off.
