I am putting in a holley electric fuel pump blue series 110gph. I looked in the instructions and it doesn't say if it has to be mounted a cetain way. I wam goig to install it on the passenger side under the hood but am unsure if I can position it however I want or not...

Thanks

I think it has got to be mounted  , in vertical position  with the motor on top  :scratchchin:

yeah closest to the tank as possible  , & ideally below the fuel level ,  electric best at pushing not pulling

Pump goes by the tank.  The regulator can go under hood.

There are electric pumps that are "designed" to pull from the tank (self priming), but a Holley ain't one of them.

:yesnod:  yeah that's true  solenoid type pumps from  delph , warbrough  Ac delco , airtex  carter , they make the same types , they pull / suck dry 3 feet or more  :yesnod:

yeah they are loud , had one fitted to mine   , good for priming !!  offers little to no resistance to fuel flow when its off ,
what you want to do to quieten it down some  ,  two old sway bar bar link end rubber bushings & a length of rubber hose same diameter as the pump bracket attaching bolt ,   what ever your attaching the pump bracket to ,   first on the attaching bolt , slide on washer , then pump bracket  , then slide on a washer the size of bar end link bushing , then slide on bushing , length of rubber tubing that actually acts as a bushing for the bolt in the mounting hole that's been drilled etc , then on the  back slide on bushing then suitable washer  then spring washer then nut & tighten , wont make it silent , but will quieten it down a lot

yep will take some later ,  :yesnod:   :2thumbs:

actually I have not long put  the 25  year old AC delco made pump back on, as a tempory experiment , ( on going experiment with a metered return line too ))  where i.ve put it this time  ,  its difficult to show the mounting set up , & takes ages to unbolt  :icon_smile_blackeye:   ,  will do a diagram too  :yesnod:
:yesnod:
did have a carter 72gph too at one point  ,

So basically we're just trying to soak up the vibration from the pump?  That's a great idea!  Question: are these pumps supposed to run at a constant rate, or do they change flow based on the needs of the fuel system?  I can swear there are times that the pump isn't running because from time to time I can't hear it, or the noise it makes start to vary in pitch and frequency.  Keep in mind I'm just running off of the e-pump for all of the fuel needs...

i know they   supposed to be self regulating , with a psi od 5 to 9  others of 3.5 to 6.5  lots more in between
there are many many different ones 6 & 12 volt too ,

yes mine has a different  pitch when i switch it on , after the charger has been sitting for a few days or after a long run then park it with heat soak , think its cause fuel had drained evaporated out of the carb / line , run pump for a few seconds  , sound of pump changes  , assuming its cause its bypassing  inside  as fuel line is pressurised  :scratchchin:

Hey Tan...Pic's please

:2thumbs:  :yesnod:

the first picture / diagram ,  I made to show exactly what I was talking about , with  using old swaybar end link bushings  , that's how you want to mount all of these types of pumps  , well  using  some from of  rubber bushing deal  :Twocents:

yes I've put  the solenoid electric fuel back on but temporary
, reason being   I welded up the carter fuel pump bracket (( second picture )) holes above the right muffler hanger  , when I was doing the resto ,  knew I should of left them there & plug them  :yesnod: :-\ :scratchchin: ,  so what your seeing is a temporary juryriged mounting of pump ,  hole already there  ;D ,  just so I could run tests with a electric pump again with metered return line to tank , to solve vapour lock / heat soak &  poor idle quality  after  giving the motor a hiding  for a few miles   , then getting stuck in traffic  , cooler fuel  running constantly through carburetor , same deal with copper fuel lines  , they were / are  temporary   :scratchchin: after the resto , cause did not know if factory bent steel lines with work with torque boxes & frame connectors  :scratchchin: , will put  the OEM  back on one day , when I decide , what the permanent fuel set up is going to be ,  want to run FAST fuel injection one day ,  so not worth doing anything in steel just yet  :-\  .

:2thumbs:   does your redtop Holley  flow fuel when off  ? , say I wanted to plumb it in as a priming pump on a switch ,

anyone else have or know  make of fuel pumps that flow when off ? like a solenoid pump does !!   :scratchchin: :popcrn:

  thanks for the info  ,

thinking  the solenoid  type pumps are / must be  the only ones that don't offer any restriction when switched off ,  suppose I could order up a few different ones  , &  blow through them when off , to see if there is any others with out  restriction  :P
