Does any one know the size of the U-Bolts for the rear leaf springs on a 1970 Charger 440 R/T with an 8-3/4" rear end?  We had to cut off the old ones since they were near impossible to remove.  We were looking to buy some at AutoZone or O'Reilly's, but all they have are universal ones and only go by measurements.  Our car is back a garage that is about a two hours' drive away, and we can only go there on Saturdays to work on the car due to work schedule between my son and I.  Need the diameter of the rear axle housing, the bolt thread size/pitch, and the length of the U-Bolts.  Will much appreciated.

Check to see what others say.  I think the ones on mine are somewhere around 7.5-8 inches  with a 3 1/16 inside diameter (to fit around the axle) and are about 1/2 inch thick.  I may be measuring them incorrectly. The ones I see online from Manciniracing are listed as 3" x 7"

Just saw 8 and 9 inch listed there too.

I think 9 will be too long.  Mine though a base model came with the HD suspension and has the same count of leaves as I have seen on the RTs so my initial measurements may not be that far off.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Thanks.  That sounds about right.  I think I'll just order them from Mancini's since they seem to know what they're doing and you get to talk to a live person before ordering.
