 Maybe painted but I would think more likely it would be a vinyl top.

sure looks like that white goes all the way to the trunk lid...most vinyl tops go about half way

     agreed with you there   The only thing I am going on is back in the day there were a tons of cars that got vinyl tops that didn't have them originally and it would cost less for a vinyl top than to have it painted.

I see vinyl top seams in the third photo of the car posted in the above thread. Both  on the roof PS and below the window same side.  Either that or I'm just old and that's what I THINK I see.. .

I don't see any vinyl top chrome trim....I think it's white paint that goes all the way to the trunk lip
