Is Inline Tube still a PITA to deal with?

I ask because my park brake cable lasted just two applications while I was adjusting it. It was in place but wasn't doing anything until I started driving the car the past couple of days so today I got tired of not having it and adjusted it just like the FSM says to. Got it pretty close, shoved the pedal down by hand and it wasn't quite there so I tightened the nut a little more in back and pushed the pedal down by hand again and pop! The cable came right out of the little bullet at the end that anchors in the mechanism.

I'm going to call Inline about it but based on their customer service reviews here I suspect they're just going to give me the finger. The thing can be fixed but I'm sure you all know how irritating it is to have to repair a $130 part that lasted all of 10 minutes.

Any ideas for a fix? I thought about pushing the cable through the bullet a hair and then welding it. Or maybe I could crimp it with something? I don't know. This pisses me off.

I've never had any negative experiences with Inline Tube actually...

Really? That's different from what I've seen on this site. Have you had to return a part?

Called Inline yesterday morning and told them about the problem. Their response was that I pay for shipping both ways so they could repair it and send it back. Not exactly getting the finger but not really my idea of dealing with it properly either. I removed the cable, took it to work and crimped it myself.

I too have had nothing but positive experiences with Inline Tube.  I also bought a parking brake cable from them, I wound up not using as I liked the one I got from Roger Gibson restoration parts as it looked more original and included the rubber grommet already on the cable.  Inline tube took theirs back no questions asked.

Did they make you pay for the shipping?

Bull -  never had to return a part - but never ordered a cable from them...   always just fuel / brake lines. They always seemed to fit well and they ever cut my stainless lines and flared them for my aftermarket proportioning valve.

I also ordered all the fuel/brake lines from them. Honestly they seemd to be fairly helpful on the e-brake cable but I didn't appreciate the idea of having to pay to ship their goofed up part back to them to fix. After I crimped the anchor myself it became obvious that they never crimped it when they built it. ::)

Anyway, this is the kind of stuff I was talking about. Same issue with the e-brake cable among other things: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,77394.0.html

Did they make you pay for the shipping? Yes, but thought it was fair as I was the one who initiated the return, not for a defective part.  You, having a defective part that is another issue, they should have paid for your shipping both ways.  Did you ask for that?

I didn't press the issue. The guy put me on hold for a minute to (I assume) talk to a supervisor and when he came back he just told me what they would do. Had I demanded they pay they might have budged but I didn't think I should have to argue with them about it since the problem was caused by their poor workmanship. It's fixed now and it works great so I saved probably $25 and two weeks. It's just the principal of it that bothers me.

Sorry they gave you a hard time. It was great you had the tools to fix it yourself. My experiance with them was nothing less then 100%. About 5 years prior to instaltion I booght a brake line set from them at Calisle. When I went to install it things were very wrong, completly the wrong set. I called them expecting the worst.  I had no reciet or proof of purchace. After a few pictues showing the issue. They sent me a replacment set NC. They did not even want the old one back.

That would have been nice, and that's what I was hoping they'd do.

99% of their customers aren't going to have access to a crimper large enough to do what I did so they would have had to pay and wait, which is unfortunate for both Inline and the customer.
