truck 727 vs car 727

my buddy is getting a 68 d100. it dosent have a motor or tranny. hes leaning towards a 318 and a 727 like it came with from the factory.  i know the motor dosent matter if it comes from a truck or car but is there a difference in the trannys at all?

For interchange purposes a 2WD D100 uses the same 727 as a passenger car
