So just got everything installed in the 69 road runner and ready to fire up. And the RobbMC starter is cranking slower then ever. The motor has 10.90:1 compression, shouldn't be having these problems. Motor spun over with minimal pressure when on engine stand with pistons, rods, and crank installed. New STARTER?????????????

Installing new starter in the morning. Thinking my starter is old and worn out.

Make sure your grounds are good and the battery cables are in descent shape. Is the battery fully charged ?

Battery cable look great no corrosion at all. Have optima red top battery which had 12.43 volts. Checked starter had 12.43 volts. Cranks over but just cannot spin it fast enough. Got a DBelectric starter coming tomorrow but I dont think that is going to be the problem. It is tough to spin the crank over by hand, but spun freely when assembled. I just think the spring pressure and the compression (10.90) might be to much for the starter.   Can starters get weak over time or do they have the same power until the quit working?

my starter got weaker and weaker over time...when I went to go get it tested it was getting the 12 plus volts, but it spun with no torque kinda like a honda civic pressing on the gas all the way and it takes 30 secs to get to top speed..  Vs the DB one I have that thing just spun like crazy immediately.

Well took motor out and found the radius on my crank at the rod journals was tight. So cut the bearings back a little and she spins alot better. Motor is back in, just got to button up everything and try it again. Keeping fingers crossed!!!

Good news ! Was this a 440 source kit by chance ? Those are known for requiring a narrow bearing due to the radius machining  :yesnod:
