95 buick roadmaster V8 doesnt want to start up in the morning. if you turn the key it will fire and die. then just crank with nothing. (like its out of gas)  hit it with a shot of starting fluid and it will fire right up and run perfect. then will start up throughout the day. but if you leave it for several hours, same thing all over. my guess would lean towards the fuel pump, but im just not convinced yet.  any guesses?  thanks.

My Honda used to do this. It ended up being the little control modual for the fuel pump. Try this. Turn the key and listen for the fuel pump, you should hear it make a buzz for 2-4 seconds when the key is set to the on position, if you can hear it then it has pressure. Try it over and over if you cant hear it. Off-On etc... If you hear it every time and then you experience the same symptoms I'd guess it's the pump itself.

Edit: I re-read your post again and I want to say your pump is loosing prime internally. How hard is a pump install? They are not too expensive and worth a shot.

Fuel pump has an inline "muffler"that goes bad causing what you describe. New fuel pump w ill NOT come with this piece.

is this a piece that needs replaced? or something that is not needed by the pump being replaced?
