Hi guys

I'm like Ned Flanders with a thousand questions now ( stupid restored cars) Thanks for your patience. I bought some QFT 34-2 metering plates for my 6 pack, I noticed while I was installing them that I ordered the wrong kits: the 34-2 are for side pivot floats but I ended up having a center pivot carbs. They seem to work ok and I installed #82 jets (stock metering plates were #79's) Is there any diff between the 2 plates (34-2 and 34-3)? Before I installed the plates the plugs were nice brownish color but now they are White :brickwall: I installed new jets in the center carb too, stock were #62 and I installed #66's so I would have expected to see browner plugs not leaner? :shruggy: Also when I removed the original metering plates there was a steel spacer like plate in there was I to reinstall it?

There are different kits for different carbs as you found out. I would call Quickfuel and ask them if the side float kit can be used in a center float carb. I'm guessing not and it has to have something to do with float adjustmant or possible lack thereof in your case.  :scratchchin: There has to be a good reason for 2 different kits  :yesnod:

The billet spacer plates between the carb body and quickfuel plates get eliminated so no problems there.   ;)

Are your floats moving up and down with the adjustments ? How is the float level now ?

Six packs are very sensative to float adjustment and if the floats are set too low it will go lean at full throttle.

Ya I did email Quick fuel and they did confirm they are the same plates just the floats are different. The level idea is something to check for sure I used the quick fuel sight plugs and set the fuel level when running but I will recheck that.

All bow to the guru Ron :icon_smile_big: I guess the QF sight plugs ain't worth a pinch of coon $hit cause you were right the two outboard carbs float levels were very low. I reset them by just having gas flow out and I'll try that?

Thanks again

OK, this is starting to make sense now  ;)  Your other post stated that you couldn't get the fuel level below half on the sight hole despite having the float adjustment turned all the way down. I assumed you had the brass plugs out when determining this....but now i see you were using those junk plastic sight glass plugs. Ya, they are junk and i tried a set years ago and could never get an accurate visual float level because they became cloudy as soon as the carb heated up...then they drooped/sagged. Total junk !  :eek2:

Time to test and see how it's running  :drive:
