From /6 Demon to 318 Dart

So as many of you know awhile back a guy on FABO sent me a complete 7 1/4 rear end free of charge to replace the one that went in my Dart. Also many know the hardships I had getting that rear end into the Dart just a bit ago.

Well I learned an interesting thing about that rear end. Turns out it's actually a 7 1/4 suregrip. Found that out by accident. Seems it came out of a /6 Demon. The guy who shipped it to me never even opened it up to look at it the insides.

Pissing down rain, trying to get home, gave the car a little too much gas when the light turned green, rear end started sliding sideways... 

Cop looking at me funny with the embarrassed look on my face....

That is one disadvantage of having one, Tires wearing are another.

Steve Magnente wrote a short article on a 7 1/4" SG axle that was in the back of a Mopar Muscle magazine several years ago. I guess if you had a slanty car in the snow, it may have been beneficial.

I also remember it talking about the suregrip in some book about the Dart and how it was popular if the car was ordered with the towing package as well.
