power steering pump color / sheen question?

What would the correct sheen of black be for a 69 B body power steering pump, Saginaw unit?  My guess would either be satin or gloss black?  Also, would the brackets be on it prior to it getting painted as an assembly or brackets painted, pump painted individually then assembled?
