Just curious but did the factory installed U-joints have the zerk (grease) fittings in them or were they the solid type U-joints?

I've been told to not use the u-joints with the zerc fittings but to go with the solid type as they are much stronger.

If it's a street car, then the zercs will be alright.  If it's a race car, then you should step up to the non zerc u joints

But what ones came from Dodge on your Charger back when it was new??

Perfect timing on this thread. All I could find today were greasable U-joints. Still looking for solids. The ones in my 74 were solids, and whether they've been replaced before I'm not sure, didn't look too close.

looking at service manual, it says to disassemble & lube....so I take this as no grease fittings

When I replaced the ones on my charger, I put the solid Spicer joints in there.  They had the hump in the C clip for some reason.  Now I know what they are for!  I just picked up a thin piece of sheet metal and will be cutting strips for putting them on my charger when I have it up in the air next.   :2thumbs:
