As some of you (FB friends) may already know, Im down here in Guanajuato, Mexico for academic purposes for the next 7 weeks. One of the things I'm really digging so far is all the interesting cars down here. Still seeing a lot of late 70's/early 80's Datsuns, some Renaults, even oddball MOPAR stuff (like 2 door Diplomats,Volares, Ramchargers), etc. Basically, cars that we never had in US or that people disposed of when they broke down and bought Camrys instead. For most people here, buying a new car is not an option, so they keep these running. So, that said, I'm gonna try to take as many pics as possible and share them. Here are a couple that I've got so far:

Lots of 80s era Dodge trucks:

Datsuns:

Not sure what this is, but looks kinda cool (and, BTW, there someone under the hood of an old car fixing something almost every 50 yards...but they still keep em running!)

Stay tuned for more...didnt get one of the Diplomat, but im gonna look for it.

I know pics lie, but it looks to be full size car with an El Camino type body. The strange thing I see is 4-lug wheels.. Maybe it is smaller than the pic makes it out to be!!   :shruggy:

its smaller than the S10. Dont know much about it, but judging by the styling and size looks like its based on the Cruze (or similar) platform.

its kinda interesting...because I was talking to a couple of them for a little bit (I found out later that they were a car club, when they put on their matching car club t shirts) and they are car guys just like us, spending time and money on them and all...but theyre making do with what they have. But they do have internet...youd think that even if they're trying to be ricers, they would have a better sense of what the ricer scene is like in other parts of the world...

That primered four door/lambo gullwing thing looks like shit. :eek2:

But, that really took some hard work and determination to fabricate and make it all
work. :coolgleamA:

So, for that I say...
