Small Block Carb & Intake Compatability Question

My '69 Satellite has a stock 318-2V in it that is getting a little tired. My plan is to simply have it rebuilt a little better than stock, but not just yet, maybe in about a year. No drag strip runs, just a cruiser, but I'll upgrade the cam & go with a 4V set up for some more pep. Right now I have a chance at picking up a very reasonably priced 1970 340-4V intake #3462848 that I believe to be a spread bore, along with a Carter 500 cfm square bore carb.

Does anyone know if these two will work okay together?

The 500 cfm size is fine with how I plan to drive this car, but I'm not sure about the compatibility of the square & spread bores. I really don't want to get into adapter plates & create linkage headaches & thought that the carb would still work since It's not the opposite where I'd be putting a spread bore carb onto a square bore intake.

Thanks.

If you're getting a real 70 340 intake it would be a lot better on my A66 Challenger! ;) I'll even trade you one from a 72 340 to be fair. I haven't been able to find reasonably priced intake or exhaust manifolds. As for the carb, I'm not sure what was supposed to be there. My 72 intake had a Thermoquad on it but I believe the 70 should have had an AFB.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Well, I took a chance that it'll work since things were priced decent. I sent half of the money as a deposit & will go pick up the parts soon & let you know what it is. I don't know the guy on a close & personal level, but he's been into Mopars & racing at Englishtown, NJ forever. I met him there years ago when he was a vendor & he seems okay.    :2thumbs:
