a friend of mine put up a datsun parts car for sale on ebay.  the car has not ran in 2 years.  he stated that it could run if one tried to get it running and the ad got cancelled by ebay stating that it violated its policies (read below).

I just find it ironic that they would kill a "datsun" rustbucket without anyone bitchign about it, but they wont kill scammers ads until someone bitches about it?  but who knows right?  just ironic i guess.

Subject: eBay Listing Removed: Circumvention of eBay Fees (=LS &7262 JM7233144)

Dear lemon68,

We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following auction-style
listing(s):

8036974966 - 1981 Datsun 210 4cyl 1.5 engine 5speed parts car

However, your listing was in violation of eBay's Circumvention of eBay Fees
policy and has been removed from eBay.  We have credited all associated fees to
your account and notified eBay users associated with the transaction that it has
been cancelled.

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know what part of your
listing is not permitted.

Your listing(s) contains the following information:

Listed in category: eBay Motors > Parts & Accessories > Car & Truck Parts >
Parts Cars
In Description: The engine did fire up a couple years ago, and I have every
reason to believe it will still start up today.

Users may not use systems or techniques to circumvent, or avoid, eBay fees.
Listings that circumvent (avoid) fees may provide a poor buying experience and
create an unlevel playing field by penalizing sellers who pay all of their eBay
fees. Further, these listings undermine the trust of eBay?s marketplace.eBay
policy requires that, items must be listed in the appropriate category. For more
information on Circumvention of eBay Fees visit the following Help page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-circumventing.html

Please note: violation of this or other eBay policies may result in forfeit of
eBay fees on cancelled listings, limits on account privileges and account
suspension.

Please review eBay's Listing Policies and User Agreement at the following
locations:

  http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/policies.html
  http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/user-agreement.html

For more information on why eBay removes auction-style listings, or to write to
us with questions, please review the following Web page:

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

This is what my friends reply was

I mentioned this only to inform people that might be interested in the
motor, that it should be good. Just about the only thing good about the
whole car is the motor/transmission. I figure someone might want the
whole car for parts, not just the motor/trans. Hell, I have seen newer
wrecked cars for sale on ebay as PARTS CARS for a lot more money. I
expect this item to be relisted free of charge for your mistake right away.
If I have to take out, "I believe it will still start up today, then so
be it." Maybe someone was upset that it got listed on the day of .50
listings.

Some people I know were more or less doing the same thing on purpose.   They listed whole cars as parts to avoid the higher fees.
This effects ebay's bottoms line...  whether or not somebody gets taken by a scammer isn't their problem for the most part... as long as they get their listing fee   :icon_smile_dead:

I can't believe that E-bay was letting that "parts car" thing work in the past.  It cost $40.00 to list a car and I guess they are cracking down on that now.

I don't see where the  "I believe it will still start up today" thing has anything to do with it.

Unless "parts cars" don't run according to the rules  ::)

Maybe it was an eGouge newbie, unclear of the concept of a "parts car"? ::)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

RD

naah, my friend has been on ebay for a while.  that car is a parts car.  the damn rear bumper fell off due to rust! lol  he just said that the car's engine could probably run if someone tried and that was it.  He never said it was roadworthy.

I have had the same problems with FEEBAY! The thing is that if some SQUEALY turns in your listing for review to FEEBAY, you get DISCRIMINATED against. FEEBAY's explaination is that they cannot police the sites, so they "rely" on fellow ebayers to inform them of violations. I believe the technical term for this is "SQUEALY". But if you have no SQUEALY turning you in, or if you are greasing FEEBAY's palms enough $$$, you are left alone. I would GREATLY like to get a bunch of guys together that have gotten discriminated aginst this way to file a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against them and to take a bit of the arrogant pride out of their sails, because the process they are using is CLEARLY a DISCRIMINATORY one! And the ONLY thing that matters to them is the $$$$, so we need to SUE BIG, and STOP this nonsense. I have just finished fighting with them over some listings of mine that they cancelled, and to make a long story short, after much fighting, they reinstated 2 of them with "apologies" for any offense they may have caused me. I told them that I was going to put this Class Action Lawsuit together for this unacceptible disacrimination, and that is when they reinstated my listings. If we can get enough guys together with enough MOXY to follow through with this, we CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
