I'm curious as to the correct distance of the pinion snubber to floor pan.
Mine is 2 3/8".  I only use the car for cruising and the ocassional wheel spin.
Is there a guideline?

Hi Fred,

I would think the space would be only a couple centimeter........stop the spring wrap sooner?  :shruggy:

Thanks Tom,
I think I'll get the threaded adjustable pinion snubber, then I can fine tune to suit my needs.

A couple of centimeters would be okay for drag racing but for street use you'll find it won't take much of an irregularity in the road to make it bang the floor.  The 2 inch is fine for regular driving.

Thanks 4cruzin but mine is an 8 3/4 so it won't fit.

Thanks for your input guys. I haven't had any problems with my setup but am curious as to the correct factory setting (if there is any).

The factory one wasn't adjustable and if I had to guess off the top of my head I'd say it's two or three inches from the floor.

For racing the old D.C. blue book recommend 1 inch from floor pan. Made my own threaded adjustable for the Dana.

Ghoste

It was different for automatic and four speed too.  One of them was closer than the other.

i set it 1" from the floor. i just cut the rubber off welded a square tube i its place. then threaded in a traction bar rubber. total investment...the cost of a traction bar rubber. this was on a dana. im not sure what the 8 3/4 look like in that area.
