I do.  This is one of the reasons why I get the mag.  Yes, I think the "P" articles can sometimes be wrong, but then on the other hand, there are some very interesting facts......

Its only wrong John if we assume your way is right.  I prefer to take their propaganda and the kind that you like and form an opinion of my own but thanks for jumping in.

I stopped subscribing a long time ago.   I really don't think much of the political BS in there... but there's some good new product info and a few decent car photo shoots.  To each their own.  

But on a personal note,  Rob is a nice guy when I've had the chance to talk with him a bit at the Nats.   One of their booths is right in back of the MA deal and he stops by to chat.

Rick E.  says Rob is a master at promoting his product(s) and he really goes all out at most major events.    Surprised to hear that from Rick.    The MA marketing guy is also friendly with Rob and they get along just great.    No animosity between competing brands to speak of... at least from the MA side.

I think MA could really rule the roost if they could get to a place where they drop the non-stop one liners and and don't force you to flip through the entire mag to finish an article.  I suppose none of them are perfect and thats why I keep getting 2 of them and sometimes the 3rd.

I have the same complaint about MA.  I flip through the whole magazine anyway, but I shouldn't have to flip through it 20 times just to read it once.  Other than that, the articles are really good.  There's enough info being given for someone to actually work on their car.

I'm not much for MM.  Seems like it it all Lx performance or motor builds lately.  They just stick classic muscle in as features.  Other than that, thier layout is good.  Thier editor talks about fixing some classic cars, but doesn't show anything being done.  He's supposedly got a 3rd gen Charger he's getting ready to do; whether or not he publishes anything on it, I doubt it.  His last editorial mentioned that he was going to do a stock type rebuild on it.


MCG, I'd like to see more feature cars and tech builds though.  I enjoy seeing the new parts section, but that's about it. Otherwise, it's like looking at the AutoBuy.

I find myself reading the Hemmings Muscle more than I do any of them.  They cover the classics as well as the Pro touring.  Best all around car mag I've found.  Best thing I like about them is they don't play favorites.  They ain't afraid to cover Buicks, Olds, AMC, or Mercury's.    in my book.

A magazine is a form of advertising.    Articles are written to fill in the spots between the advertisements.   

Flippng to different pages exposes you to different ads.  Without the ads,  there wouldn't be any magazines,   or newspapers,  or TV stations or many other things.  Nobody would pay the price for a magazine that it would cost without the ads.   

The thing in recent years for MA is the upgrade to full color instead of just the center 16 pages being color and the rest being B&W like in years past.

I fully understand that Brian, but when your competitors will let me read a few pages or sometimes the entire thing, I am more inlcined to take a risk buying the magazine.  When I know every article in the mag will require me to flip through the whole mag just to get through even a single article then you better have something damned enticing on the cover because I naturally skip buying that.
I typed it at a moderate speed but I did it as an end consumer but not a regular one of MA or Harris.  Incidentally I also tend to be a consumer who purposely is less likely to look at ads when I'm subjected to them that way.  I'm likely in the minority on that though.
I do realize why they do it but it ends up backfiring in my case.

Its just an opinion of one though.

You're the one who said it was wrong and mentioned that they force you to think. If you can be "forced to think" what does that say about you?

Personally, I dropped my subscription solely because of their slanted editorials....not because of the way they slanted but because they are slanted; they have no place in an automotive mag.

I'd say it says I'm open minded John.  YOU were the one who wanted to leap on it and twist it into something else.  If it wasn't a backhanded insult on your part then by all means I lay in prostrate humility before you and beg your forgiveness.  (but I sincerely doubt your comment was meant for anything but provocation and slight)

Here's a great story.

MCG had their subscription stand set up last weekend at the WPC Winter Swap Meet in Mt. Clemens MI.

So naturally I get my free handout copy and move on.  Then I start thinking it would be nice to read the 3-4 years of magazines I missed by not subscribing (for feature car articles).  

Halfway through the show I came across a vendor selling decades worth of old MCG magazines, shrink wrapped by year, going all the back to the early 1990's!

I bought 4 complete years (2009 to 2012) for $20 total.  I saved nearly $80 bucks...and for that price I won't feel obligated to read any tabloid bullshit!

MA has definitely made my top list of fave's, I actually like their humor & one-liners. It breathes a little life into the articles. Besides, they have a great hands-on tech guy that sometimes gets photographed in their how-to articles.     

MCG follows, I still like their new repro parts announcements, classifieds, and the resto articles written by Badalson.

I still get MM, but I can do without 10 pages of motor dyno shootouts every issue.
