8 3/4 rear axle codes

Out of curiosity, what does the AAPW and 49 mean on my 742 rear axle assembly?  

Guess 49 can be the casting day, yes? But how to decode the year? I read in other posts about a large yellow "D" mark on the backside of the diff, which would mean 1968. I will check it out tomorrow.
