Ok, granted the preview seems to have a bit of hollywood to it but still cool non-the-less that they picked a communications officer to be a center of the movie.

Nope, we have a total of 4 communication guys on my dept.  We also have no women in the PD also.

From what I saw of the clip, it is LA County either Fire Dispatch or Police Dispatch.  Yes, we have a total of 4 male dispatchers.  We work 12 hr shifts and work something called a "pitman" schedule.  Basically it is a rotation of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off with a rotation of 2 weeks of days and 2 weeks of nights.  Some of you might have heard of a sleep disorder caused by shift work.  I can positively say.... IT HAPPENS!  By the time your body gets used to the two week rotation, it is time to flip flop back to either days or nights.  After a while, it takes its toll on the body.  This is also not even counting any over time we might have.  Sadly, for the most part, communications officers make HALF of what a police officer makes, with a majority of the time it being less than half!
