Another seat belt question, this time about buckles...

What are the buckles coated with? I'd say paint but I've seen the stuff peeled off them like it's some sort of plastic coating. :shruggy:

 paint was peeling off a green set i had , mentioned in the other thread  ,  sure it was like a type of powerd coat  :scratchchin:

yeah , the spare black buckles & the original rear  , i have look like paint , but  they are  not chipped or flaking , the green set i  had / have,  the paint is was flaking off , quite badly on some , did not think it was ordinary type  paint , will dig them out whats left & have a look  :yesnod:

Assuming they are coated with plastic, painting them would be the only feasible way to restore them anyway. I guess it's moot.
