'68 R/T Clone I used to own

This weekend, my wife and I were cleaning out some old file folders and I came across some photos and the Fender Tag information from a car I used to own plus some info from a '69 RT/SE I looked at purchasing back in the '90s - and Chris, check your email because I've already forwarded the RT/SE's info for the Registry.  Thought you guys would enjoy the pics, as I always loved the look & stance of this '68 despite my current proclivities for 1969's.

The '68 was originally a 318/auto car (white paint, white/black interior, black vinyl top), and I purchased/drove it just as you see here for a couple of years.  The only work I really did was to fix a carburetion problem (someone had broken off the tips of the idle mixture screws after overtightening them in an attempt to get it to idle correctly  :whistling: ) ; and I had to replace the 727 after the aforementioned carburetion problem kept the engine from idling below 2,500RPM... one unintentional neutral drop later and the tranny sprag was toast  :brickwall: .   It was a fun car to blast around town in even though it wasn't a "real" R/T and didn't have a 440 engine either.

Get a load of those "custom" door panels in the last set :o

;D  Yeah, I thought so too.  In a lot of ways, I had more fun driving that cloned R/T around with the family than with this show-winning car (at least so far).  We'll see what the future holds.

T3, black leather & vinyl interior, black v-top and black rump stripe.  Console automatic, AM 8-track, Tic-Toc-Tach, 3.23 axle (at least based on no 26" radiator on the tag), and a few other miscellaneous goodies.  They were asking $8500 for the car back in the '90s, and it had a mediocre repaint plus the engine stumbled pretty badly IMHO.  Not worth that kind of money back then for sure, but today I'd find room for it in the garage at that same price.

That's eerily similar to the stuff on my old car - had to have been the same thing they did (buy in bulk & roll your own).

Great pic, Brian!
