im istalling the stainless steel top of door trim and im assuming that there is a felt or gasget.  Since I didnt strip the car down before it was painted, Im finding Im having to solve a huge puzzle.  Also, the space bwtween the metal where the quarter vent post is inserted, is there a felt or gasket that goes between the metal and post so that there is no rattling of metal to metal contact?  Is there a gasket or felt between the stainless steel trim and top of door or is it just clipped in and metal will have direct contact?

The door belt molding just clips in, no gasket.
These are the windowfelt end seals that the glass end molding slides against:

so these sealsare installed between the vent window housing and metal on door?  And is it 2 per side? I dont see these seals on 1969 service manual.  Is there another book out there with more details on installation or specific parts identified?

No, those small seals go on the opposite end of the door, where the end glass molding slides up & down.
FSM is your best bet.

I got the CD off ebay, much easier than the book and easier to keep clean!

Thanks guys.  From what I see, I already have the service manual.  I thought that there may be more detailed literature with possible part numbers.  Looks like what I have is the best option.

Excited about putting this baby back together!

Huge puzzle is right.  I took mine apart, bagged and tagged most everything, and it still feels fuzzy putting it together. :scratchchin:

I think many of us love the cars and try to do as much as we can ourselves, but haven't done a bunch of cars, so it can be a struggle.

Good luck......this site is a good resource.....just stay clear of the GL threads. :eek2:
