I might be mistaken on this (haven't looked in a while), but I believe they are percentage based? I.e., the more you make, the more they make.  One thing for sure, if you go to list something, it makes it pretty clear what its going to cost you before you get a chance to publish your add.  Good luck!

Everything is percentage based. And it is also based on what selling options you wanna use. It tells you what they will charge you for the listing when you are done filling out the listing pages (there is 5). There is a reveiw page when you are done filling everything out, where you can double check everything, and make changes if needed at the end before you actually commit to listing your item. At the bottom of that page, is where they show you the cost for listing that item. Then if you sell it, they charge you a percentage again for the final sale fee. I forget what the percentage is though.

I hope that makes sence.

When I have sold DVD's on there I have sold them for $15 and it only charged me $.72 to sell them. So its not that pricey.

there is an entry listing fee which can be cheap or expensive, depending on how extravagant you go

there is a final value fee , which is a percentage of the final value

i dont use a reserve price, i start the bidding price just short of what i expect to get out of it

ive made thousands of dollars off of ebay, and only one item was charger related

Ebay is a GREAT way to make some extra money, and I like to use it myself, but their GREED is making it challenging to use. Not only greed in the price, but greed in making a guy list his item in a higher category than is needed in order for them to take in more money. It is time for SERIOUS competition for FEEBAY. You just have to make the listing and before you actually list it, you can see the charge for it.

Very interesting chargers...
On the greed thing it really turns me off :icon_smile_dead: especially when people bid the crap out of it :flame:

Right, you have a credit card on file or if you use Pay Pal they can deduct the money from your account if you have a the money to cover it. Then they charge your card umm every end of the month or something like that but you can pay early if you want.

Just like Pay Pal takes their cut right out of the money deposited into your account when someone pays. You don't have to do anything and you also do not have a choice on how they collect the money.

One way to save money is to do some research to see what similar parts are going for and price your part about 30% or so less then that. Then give it a "buy it now" a little higher then the one you saw that sold.

I Don't do the reserve price because it doubles your original fee and if the item doesn't sell you get stuck for twice as much money in fees with no reward..

Putting a "buy it now" price on there is cheaper then a "reserve" price and it puts pressure on folks that want the item to bid your minimum.  Bidding the minimum kills the "buy it now" price but at least people are bidding on it and that brings in more bidders into the auction mentality.  Meaning they think "If that guy needs it then I need it more"

The other thing I like to do is make the small items for sale worldwide, that way it's not too hard to ship but the world is your customer. Larger items should just go to North America because shipping them elsewhere can be a nightmare and take 6 to 8 weeks.  The customer gets impatiant and bad things happen after that. Like negative feedback    :rotz:

But some folks in europe, Japan and Austraila pay crazy money for stuff so make your "buy it now" higher when you say will ship worldwide..  I have proof  :yesnod:
