guys,

having trouble tracking down an 8 3/4 rear for my 69.  someone locally is trying to sell one from a 70's w100 pickup.  will these work.  what are the dimensions on the pickups rears.

rebby

Where are you located? I have an extra 8 3/4 out of my 69 that, at the moment, is destined to sit in my shed for who knows how long.

im in northern california.

The pickup 8 3/4 is around 5 inches wider than a 69 B-body rear according to this chart on the Moparts web site  http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle/16.html

The pickup 8 3/4 rearend might be a good candidate to narrow and respline the axles.

Yeah, you might want to go this route. I'm in MN so getting my 8 3/4 out to you is going to be difficult and/or expensive.

Hope this can help,

oh what carrier, gears, open or sure grip

Cooter

A "truck" 8 3/4 rear will most likely have the spring perches UNDER the leaf springs..This requires removing them and reinstalling on UNDER rearend or on TOP of the leaf spring.

I'd be checking craigslist.   Those pop up occassionally.

Otherwise contact http://www.doctordiff.com/  and see what he can do for you.

But if you're gonna spend money to have one built,  it's just as easy to get a Dana 60 built instead.

true.  I like the idea of a drop out carrier for freeway gears as well as streeet/strip fun.

ive been all over craigslist from oregon nevada and cali and yeah its slim to none here.

What about junkyards?  Any b body axle will fit.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

kinda slim pickins for the yards up here.  It's more of barn finds or backyard searches.  most junkyards in the area are late 90's to newer.  but keep up the ideas

A 70's truck rear end is over four inches wider than a '69 B-body. Even if you move the perches it would be too wide.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
