I dont have a lot of details on the motor, but would it fit in my 68 if I bought it and rebuilt it? Just wondering.... :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

I've got a '78 440 in my '69.  Bought it that way, so don't know how much was involved to make it work.  Looks pretty seamless though.  Nothing looks out of place.

Absolutely. No doubt about it. It will definitely fit.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Not much different in the block.  The water pump inlet may be on the other side compared to a stock '68 Charger.  Do you want to know all that's involved?  What trans do you have?  What's in the car now?

Will definately need rebuilding with higher comp. pistons. Other than that, it's no different than swapping in a 1966-78 440 pass. car engine....

I dropped a 1974 truck 440 in my car.  I changed the intake manifold, water pump housing (lower outlet on the opposite side), and oil pan/oil pump pickup as well as using all of the car pulleys, brackets, etc.  Other than that, everything is the same.

I found one locally...guy wants 250$ for it. I thought about making it my first project. I've never ACTUALLY rebuilt a motor before, but thought I'd give it a try. I'm a farm boy...figure I can hack it up! So is 250 a good price? What am I looking at putting into it in a rebuild? All the info you guys can give would be great!

A '76 would most  likely have a cast crankshaft so it will need an externally balance converter or flywheel to fit a '68 with a big block...if the '68 is a small block it will need a transmission/bellhousing change.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
