My father-in-law is a big sailing nut and now that he is retired he gets it in when ever he can. He lives in a sailing community in Severna Park MD and typically takes part in a yearly event they simply call the Guys Cruse. Basically a bunch of the guys in the community grab their sail boats, a crew, and go out on a 4 day cruse on the Chesapeake Bay. It's sailing all day and um well, I think you can fill in the blank. This year he invited his son and I on the annual guys cruse as crew on his boat. Needless to say I signed up.  :2thumbs:  I have sailed with him quite a few times and when I was younger on my uncle's boat but I am by no means skilled. No worries though. I flew down Friday night and we were off Saturday morning. It was a great sunny day but it was a bit cold on the water with 10-15 knot winds.

Glad to hear you was able to get AWAY from it all for a little while.  Sailing is fun.  Been out a time or two myself on Stockton Lake.  Did you happen to get any fishing done while you was out?  It's getting to the end of the season.

More shots from the day. The winds were there but the waves were shallow. Plenty of fun regardless.

At the end of the day we dropped anchor in Queens Town. One of the boats drops anchor with a load of chain and we tie up the other boats to make a raft. There we share fine food, drinks, and stories. And take in the view. There were 3 Bald Eagles that were monitoring the bay and they keep a vigil on us during our stay.

No, I didn't but a few of the guys that were there did try a bit of fishing at anchor. Didn't pull anything though.

Day 2 was MUCH warmer and we made sure to hit up a marina early in the afternoon so we could catch the games.

And the last day was full of big waves and wind. Wish I didn't have a flight that evening.  :'(

Great pics BHP  :2thumbs: Its neat to get out on a boat , how long did your sea legs last afterwards haha
I've done a bit of racing as crew on a mates boat 11.0m, there is a big race on this weekend from Auckland to Bay of Islands about 130 nm, I've done it twice 2007 & 2008 , great fun racing through the night and of course the party afterwards

Sea legs were around for about a day. My monitor at work the next day kept washing back and forth.  :eek2:  We did a little bit of "racing" in the group but it was a long way off from real racing. Mostly just for the sake of giving each other a hard time at anchor that evening.
