Ok, I know  posted this before, but I keep coming up with a dead end when I try to find Murray Crowe -- or is it spelled Murry Crowe.  Anyways, you guys seem to have a better database or memory to access than I do so is there anybody that has contact info for Mr.Crowe?  I believe he may be my link to finding out what happened to the engine.  Thanks in advance.

TiMopar

Hi, his name was spelled; Murry. I bought a car from him back in 1984.

Thanks for replying, I couldn't remember who gave me the info. sorry about that.  Anyway, yes it was a dead end.  I called everyone that looked like they would be about his age on that list and never got any calls returned.  He is the only one I haven't been able to track down.  I've talked to Anthony Zachary (great guy) as his dad used to own the car and I believe they bought the car from Murry.  I'm kind of like the guy in Dirty Harry that wants to know if Harry fired 6 shots or only 5  his line was "I gots to know".  Well, thats where I'm at trying to find what happened to the motor.... "I gots to know"

The mighty Hemi dodge was sold to local match racers in Louisiana and remained there in obscurity for the next several decades. In fact the car was rumored lost forever or destroyed. The car was eventually discovered by [[[[[Murry Crowe]]]]] in a pine ticket west of Monroe, La. The door jams still had the trademark yellow and black colors painted by Dick Landry that secretly said to those who would listen this carcass is the remains of the Hemi Maverick. [[[[Crowe]]] checked VIN numbers and talked with Golden to verify the car's pedigree. Eventually Kerry Winkler purchased the car from [[[Murry Crowe]]] and then sold the remains to Terry Winkler. At this point the once feared Dodge

Have you considered the possibility that he simply does not want to talk to you, or that he did not receive the message you left for him?  Two of the addresses on the list exactly match addresses that I had for Murry Crowe from my dealings with him in the 80s and 90s, one in Vicksburg and the other in Monroe...  At any rate, these are the best leads that I can provide... Good luck on your search.

XS29 -  It appears you have done a lot here to provide information.  Maybe next time you are in Monroe, LA, you could drop by old Murry's house and say hi!

As a side bar, my old Daytona came from a dealer in Monroe. LA.   XX29L9B383272     Striking Hemi Orange, white interior and wing.  Wish I had kept it.... :bawling:

Hi Greg... No, I do not want to say Hi to Murry... two transactions in the past, both bad... his word meant nothing then, no reason to believe it would now... IMHO

XS29  Thanks again,  I did consider he may not want to talk, but I'll give it one more try.  Then again, maybe i'll have my girlfriend call and leave a message, maybe the sound of a woman will get him on the phone?? lol   I'll keep you posted.

mopar4ya

Are you looking for information on a Red Daytona that Murray use to own??  I have a friend that is friends with Murray and might be able to help you out. I remember my buddy telling me about Murray picking him up at the airport on a 100 degree day in the Daytona and sitting in traffic with no problem.  Hell, I can't keep mine running cool on a 80 degree day... lol.

Dan.
