I know it goes to the heater box, but not sure what it is called or what exactly it does. In the pic it looks more like wire, but it appears to be copper tubing. it broke off at the end that goes into the heater box. any help is appreciated.

:o  You got yourself a flux capacitor!

Can I use it to go back in time and make more progress on my restoration than I have in reality?

Why not go back to 68, and go buy your  ride fresh off the lot?  I think that would be more fun.  War and politics aside, I think 1 day to go back and test drive all the muscle cars would  be a blast.  Or jump up to 72, that way you get the Daytona and Superbird as well as few other rides.

Got anymore picture's of it? I haven't seen 68 A/C units up close and hate to guess that it's a thermal expansion valve. So I won't

That's not the water valve is it?  The only thing that kinda looks like that on my 69 is the water valve but the copper is solid, not a tube.  I'm at a loss.   :shruggy:

That's the only thing I can think of.  Just going through the service manual.

Here is a picture I found on Ebay.  I think this is it on the right hand side. The ad is for an "NOS 1968 MOPAR Heater Water Control Valve A/C AC Air Conditioning New Old Stock".

If that's the heater control valve in your picture then the tube is a capillary tube.  To my knowledge, not available anywhere.

Ever figure it out? It looks like theres parts missing off of it.

Yes, it is the capillary tube according to the post above. the last pic I posted with the 3 different views shows it. it goes from the heater control valve to that other smaller piece. still have no idea how to replace it or where to get it from though  :rotz:

You can't fix it. The gas in it escaped when it broke. Good luck on finding a new one.

Didnt realize there was gas in it. So what does a person do to replace this part?

Surely someone else has had to replace one of these before?  :shruggy: What do I do?

The ebay pic is how that thing looks on mine.  The oval plate is screwed onto the heater box and the copper wire runs to the water valve.  I forgot what it's supposed to do, it's some sort of sensor but the heater will work fine without it.  I think all you need is the piece that fits on the heater box and then you can run solid copper to connect the two.  That's all I can think of.

I guess they dont need any business. Must already be set for retirement. No one answers the phone and I cant get a return call.  :shruggy:

Finally got in touch with them. Fella that answered the phone was nice and also helpful. I ended up having to buy the whole heater control valve unit as they dont sell this part separately which was somewhat expected. $135 after mailing core back. I guess that isnt too bad.

True, way better than the price of a 69 valve.
