69 Charger Quarter Panel Extensions--Painted on or off Car?

I'm getting close to painting my 69 Charger Unibody.  I took off the quarter panel extensions and bought new gaskets from Detroit Muscle Technology.  See the attached picture of the new gaskets.  My question is:  How should these extensions be painted.  As separate items and then install them?  Or just install them on the car and let them get painted when the car gets painted?

I plan on epoxy prime and top coat before install but I'm using single stage white. If using metallic I think they might need to be shot on the car to match.  :scratchchin:

My body man has the extensions and can either mount them prior to painting or can paint them separately at the same time and let me mount them.

I'm thinking that the factory would have mounted these and let them be sprayed at the same time as the car to save assembly line time.

painted mine off  ,   when i stripped mine for the resto  , there was yellow paint behind them  on end of quarters & there is a black plastic gasket inbetween , i think  , but was soo long ago

As long as they've been mounted and checked for fit, you can go either way.  There's a gasket between the extension and the quarter and I like to put some wax between these two parts as well so I paint mine seperately but honestly it'll be fine to paint it while it's assembled.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I fitted mine but spaced them away from the body with washers prior to paint. Makes sure you get the edges of the extension and the fender but no possible color mismatch

I always thought they were painted on the car when they were coming down the line. IIRC the attaching nuts on the backside I've always seen painted.

However, during the course of restoration many have painted them off the car. Makes for a better, cleaner job. But, paint them whichever resto route your going.

My originals on my 69 Had never been off and they were primer behind them, I would paint them installed!
