Moparstuart turned me on to a prototype of a vehicle that Shelby had created but it never made it to production.  I think it would have been a nice addition to Dodge's 80's fwd lineup.

Fella was selling a red one near me awhile back. It was very well done . You woulda thought it was production.
If your wheels ain't spinn'n you ain't got no traction.

I loved those, rust was a big problem.  Probably why you don't see a bunch of them anymore :shruggy:
1969 Dodge Charger 500 440/727
1970 Challenger convertible 340/727
1970 Plymouth Duster FM3
1974 Dodge Dart /6/904
1983 Plymouth Scamp GT 2.2 Auto
1950 Dodge Pilot house pick up

That platform and the K-cars were not heavy duty build cars in general.  Even without rust I don't know if long term survival was ever going to be a claim to fame.

Iaccoca had to build something cheap enough to save the company.  We'll build it now, and not worry about how long it'll last.  Unfortunately, that's still in practice. :rotz:

Personally, I'd say that it resides right where it belongs.

It would be cool to see it completely restored.

I wonder what the intentions are of the designer is that bought the car?

It will probably sit in a private collection never to be seen from again.

It's too bad Shelby made his mark during Chrysler's ugly phase. Had he been working on them during the late 60s and early 70s I'd be pretty excited about his work with Chrysler. As it is, there's little to brag about.

71ChallengeHer

I think it's cool. I always liked em. My younger brother had a Rampage. He sold it a couple years ago.

Ghoste

An intersting thought Bull.  Do you think Shelby's fame would have been as strong had he been with Chrysler at that time?  Chrysler didn't participate much in the type of racing that held Carroll's interest.  The Mopar Trans Am effort could have went very differently of course to say nothing of the whole A-body Barracuda program.  Possibly the Dart too.

JB400

True, but the guy is partially responsible for the Viper.  So I think the guy could tolerate a few ugly ducklings even if the Omni GLHS is one of his favorite cars.  Viper makes up for whatever everyone else thinks is a mistake.

Ghoste

Right on.  The Viper doesn't get nearly the love it deserves and I for one don't think the other stuff he did for Chrysler was all that bad.  He made do with what was available.

Unfortunately, people are willing to bash something without even trying it out first.  It's like the kid that don't like vegetables because they haven't tried them first.

I know 3 guys who have had the regular version of that little truck and all loved them dearly. One, a motorcycle mech. swore it was the best "shop truck" you could have for that type of work. Low to the ground it was easy to get a bike in the bed. A great little parts hauler, I could see a mini Red Express even today there is a gap in that market.
