What are these?

I'm an electrical newbie.  Could someone help me determine what these might be for?

1)  One is a small setup right under the air cleaner.  It has a wire coming out of the engine block (white) running to a resistor/capacitor type gizmo.  Then has a black wire leaving it running to the Field side of the voltage regulator.

2)  The other is a random switch installed under the dash, right below the ignition switch.  I haven't yet been able to trace the light blue wires back to what they might be going to.

Thanks...

pic 2, maybe some extra stuff added by last owner, ALTHOUGHT I know 2nd gens got a rear speaker fader I think in that area. However, those wires are far away from stock ones

Doesn't look like the fader control to me.  :shruggy:

Yea, I'd definitely say aftermarket.  The switch looks pretty old, though, so it's a good chance it's been on there for a while.  Maybe more recently re-wired.

I've finally bit the bullet and ordered a Painless mopar wiring kit (#10127).

I'm sure I'll find out what this switch goes to after I start pulling all of the wires out...

Thanks for the info on the electronic choke.  It is a '78 model engine block.  I knew it wasn't a numbers matching car when I bought it, but I didn't know much on the motor.  I may post more about it in a different post to see if you guys can help me shed more light on exactly what I've got under the hood...  However, I've been wondering how the car starts up so well.  I've never had to pump the petal when cranking since I've had it.  I guess it's the electric choke!

the electric choke control actually JUST REGULATES THE ELECTRICAL SOURCE what help to reduce the warming time, heating the manifold mounted choke through a resistor disposed on the choke with diff voltage according with engine bay temp. Thats the only thing it does.

If your engine cranks up fine without need to pump it, is just because the carburetor itself is good adjusted, including the choke links. That will work nice with the choke control or not

Thanks for the info, Nacho!  I'm obviously still learning.  My "assumption" of what the choke did may have been a little overboard.  Good to know how it really works.
