AMC Hornet

Anyone had much experience with AMC cars? I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but i'm really tempted by the one in the link below as i'm a big James Bond fan and for some reason I have always liked that car in the chase, anything to look out for apart from the usual rust/mechanical issues etc ? Parts easy to find? Also what value etc, thanks

No idea about the car, but someone did not graduate 1st grade.  Theres' no punctuation or capitalization in the add.  I'm going to say parts are going to be hard to come by.  You better look around for aftermarket dealers first to get an idea of parts.

I had a hornet Station wagon that I bought for $60. Had to put a distributor in it that I bought for $25. The A/C was so cold it would frost the windshield over. Wish I still had that old car. It was perfect for hauling my R/C Airplanes.

A friend of mine once got his ass handed to him in his 351 68 Mustang bad by a Hornet with a 360 in it.  Thats about all I know about them.

No info from me either other than I have only seen one other factory V8 for sale, so I would guess the guys on the level about the low production numbers.

I would love a Gremlin with a 401 in it...supposedly some dealer made a few. Some homemade version would be fine with me.

My first car was a '74 Hornet fastback just like that one. It had a 304 with a 3 speed Hurst and I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was really hammered when I got it but ran great and I drove it like I stole it for about a year while I was getting my '70 Charger going. I wish I still had it now.

As far as parts, I imagine they would be limited to whatever happens to also work on an AMX or Javelin. Value is a tough one but I would think they would be worth a far amount less than the previously mentioned AMCs. Probably in line with a Duster or Dart of the same year although the one you're looking at is very nice by the looks of it. I would check the value on Edmunds or NADA.

Pretty much. About 1,100 people in my home town; roughly 6,000 in the whole county.

It was right here on a 5-acre lot.
