I am swapping out my stock intake and 2BBl for an Eddy Performer intake and Eddy 600cfm carb.  I was thinking that while the intake is out I might take the front off and swap out the cam for something new.  Everything is stock (heads, manifolds, 904, 2.76 gears) except for 2.5" dual exhaust.  I was looking at Comp Cams 260H.  Is this good to help wake it up or is it too much and go for the 252H?

Plumcrazy

I'd choose the 252H.  The ports and valves on the 318 are rather small, the power band of the 252H is a better match.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

I would look at the Lunati VooDoo series 60401 or 60402

Not knowing much about cams... what does a longer exhaust duration do?  Other than the obvious.  Is this a benefit or hindrance?

Lift is free the engine runs the same with more or less lift , you have to watch piston to valve clearance & the ports will tend to stall around .520 lift without port work .
Duration is everything with a cam , it controls how the engine idles & runs ,how much vacuum it will produce  , where it makes power etc .
More duration give more time for the cylinder to fill but at low RPM also allows the air flow to reverse back into the intake , also more over lap whan both valve are open at the same time allows more scavenging from the exhaust so the vacuum created by the exiting exhuast flow helps to pull in more fresh air fuel mix @ high RPM but reduces vacuum & idle quality at low rpm .

Thx Chryco Psycho, that helped make a little more sense of what to look for in a cam.
