My -69 GTX has a new sendingunit in the tank but the fuelmeter wouldn't work. I have tried taking it out and it does work if I manually moove the "floater".
Can the new floater be brooken? Groundproblem is excluded since I have checked that. If it would be installed upside down it should moove anyway although in the wrong direction?
I have a new one for my charger -68, would it be the same?  :brickwall:

Can you check it outside the car to make sure the float isn't sinking?

You mean with water or something? Concerning upside down, should the pipe with the filter turn up or down? Also my cableconnection is on the bodyside and
the venttube is facing the street, that's opposite other cars I had.  :scratchchin:

As environmentally unsound as it is, I would try to get some gasoline in a small bowl or something and place the float section in it to see if it sinks.  Before that though, yes, make sure it is oriented properly in the tank.  You say it works if you manually work it outside of the tank, when you are sliding it in, is it going in the same way as when you manually work it?

Yes I take it in the same way but it's like the float doesn't rise.

Connect the wire that attaches to the sending unit to a good ground. If the gauge goes to full scale then the problem is with the sending unit or it's ground.
If not, the problem is somewhere else

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Tried all that, everything works perfect when the sendingunit is out of the tank. Must be the float not rising I guess.  :scratchchin:

Problem solved, the new float was sinking like a stone. A new float and the fuelmeter works now.  :2thumbs:
