Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

 :smilielol: That's hilarious, Grandpa told me how he wired a coil into the back seat and would pull pranks "Shocking" girls! He also said he had to buy a add on kerosene heater because the factory manifold heater sucked.. He also added that he bought complete running model T's for $5.00...
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I have also heard tales of draining the oil at night and leaving it on the family potbelly stove and then putting it back in the car in the morning because if you didn't it wouldn't be thin enough to let you hand crank it fast enough for a start.
And we call a car a lemon today if the ac doesn't blow cold enough to turn your McShake into a block of ice if you hold it in front of the vent for 3 minutes.  We got it easy don't we?

Except the few of us who have 30 year old beaters as daily drivers that barely work.    :brickwall:

Amen...Today's folks tend to be a bunch of whiney, crotchety, bit*hety people about things that I have learned NEVER to "Rely" on like A/C...Quit working in the truck last week, and only worked off recharge for two weeks. I refuse to pull the dash out on a 12 year old truck...I'll just roll down the windows.

Sounds like you have a '99 Dakota Cooter... my compressor kaboomed at about 40,000 miles and damn near stranded me when it locked up and started screeching while I was 150 miles away from home.     I just stopped at autozone and  put a non-compressor  serpentine on it to bypass and rolled the windows down like I did when I was a kid.    Drove it that way for a couple of years.   Until I totalled it that is.
